Movin’ K is the brand new project of the original members of BLACK RIDERS, a rock band coming from Italy with more than a ten-years musical background. During the period 1996-2002, Riders performed many live concerts, joinin' some of the most important stages around Milan (Mazda Palace - Rolling Stone - Propaganda - Rainbow - Palalido - Binario Zero (MI) – Castle of Vigevano Park) and being part of great events (Festival dell’Unità 2001 - Prog Fest 1999 - support band for Porcupine Tree - Ustmamo). Riders spurred a strong interest aroused by the originality, the quality of lyrics and music, and the great charisma and involvement that the band excited in people who joined their world. An interest that can be verified in the articles and reviews about their live performances and the great numbers of CD demo realized by the band; the work of Black Riders it's been honoured by many awards dedicated to A&R bands. Riders have constantly renewed their sound, keeping unblemished their originality and message, now gettin’ ahead with Movin' K project.
A never-ending need to write and compose makes possible the realization of an amazing repertoire (about 100 original songs) crossing the wide fields of MK members inspirations (Peter Gabriel; Sting & Police; Toto; Prince; Pink Floyd; Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler; Dream Theater; Depeche Mode; B. Springsteen; U2; Jethro Tull; Genesis; Supertramp; Metallica; Vasco Rossi; J.Hendrix; Mozart; Bach; Beethoven; Vangelis; Keith Jarrett).
In 2008 Movin' K came out with their first album (a high quality home recording for their own independent production), called "Until your Breath is Over" and including 16 original songs. In may 2008 MK started touring around Italy to present their CD, and join' several music contest with good results (they win the selections for Music Village 2008; reach the final phases of Tour Music Fest 2008).
In 2009 MK’s CD gets some good reviews in the web and the interest from Indie Record Labels, then the Band realizes a Live show case to promote the album and since October starts to perform in several concerts (with a set list including about 1h 30’ of live performance). In November Movin’ K produce a couple of videos (including “Animal”), realized for the web, and back in recording studio to work on new material composed for the second album.
In 2010 the band join’ some live contest presented in Milan, then they increase the live performances for the promotion of their project: in “Play in UK” contest they reach the final; in april MK win the contest “Play in Amsterdam 2010”; in may, they are elected “band of the week”, so they perform at Moon House Record in Milan and reach the 4° place in “Band of the Year 2010”, promoted by Stage Alive Agency, and counting about 750 band who joined the contest; in july Movin’ K are selected by JoyMusicLive.it to join’ the event “Musica per i Borghi”, and play live in Umbria at the end of the month for a festival advertised by the press and the most important media, and introducing some big names from italian discography; at the end of August the band play live at the “Maloemelo” and at “Waterhole” in Amsterdam for their first performances in Europe.
Meanwhile Movin’ K promote their project through the several networks in the web, so the first album, “Until your Breath is over”, is promoted in some web radio and web magazine all around the world, and the band obtains a special in the show “Il Trampolino” for “RADIO ILLUSIONI PARALLELE” (Italy – 05.10.2010) and a couple of songs become part of the playlist of “N.U.A. Show” conducted by Jay Adkins on “OFF THE CHART RADIO” (UK - July/August/September). In autumn MK’s songs are included in the playlist for “ALOOGA” radioshow selected by DJ Ottic from Germany, and in the beginning of 2011 “Faded” is programmed by the american “JANGO AIRPLAY RADIO”, and “Walk” by the italian “DEMO WEB RADIO”, both songs from MK’s first album.
2011 is dedicated to the realization of the new work called “Waitin’ 4 the Dawn”, introducing 10 new original songs (some of them presented in 2010 live performances) and including new version or mix of the best songs from “Until your Breath is over”, re-edited, and a new recording of Black Riders’ prog suite “Great Dolphin Street”, usually presented as encore in MK’s live concerts.
At the moment Movin’ K are mixing the new album, working on the new live set and filming some videos; the band will back on stage across springtime.
